Hot Days and The Koalas Ask for Water
Early in 2009, in the weeks before the tragedy that was the Black Saturday bushfires, a heat wave hovered over Australia. Far from being asleep in the trees all day, these little guys in South Australia, where the heat was greatest, went looking for water.
With temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius for days at a time, wild koalas flagged down cyclists and asked for water, wandered into the shade of patios looking for relief, drank from the hands of children, and communicated like we had never seen before on such a scale, and all at the same time.
Thank you to those individuals who submitted these amazing pictures from Adelaide.
